UK Young Artists is an exciting, new organisation working nationally and internationally to showcase young, creative practitioners between the ages of 18 – 30 whose work spans across all art forms; from visual arts to music, performance to literature. UK Young Artists pride themselves on providing networking opportunities and artistic development through intercultural dialogue and exhibitions showcasing outstanding art. UKYA01 will take place in Derby and is the first national event for UK Young Artists. The event promises to be one of the foremost cross art form events for young artists in the UK. From a large national submission the event will provide an opportunity to see and experience creative practices at the leading edge of contemporary creativity. From the 75 artists represented ?a select number will be chosen to represent the UK next year at the International Biennale of Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean in Morocco 2011. Those participants will be selected by a panel of leading creative practitioners led by the internationally renowned performance artist Akram Khan. UKYA would like to thank the venues for all their support, our principal funders – Arts Council England, Igniting Ambition, De Montford University, Loughborough University, Nottingham Trent University and University of Derby. We are grateful to our many project supports and would like to thank DEDA, DERBY CITY COUNCIL, DERBY LIVE, DERBY MUSEUMS, QUAD, and the Proprietors of Bubbles Laundrette.
